A bosunâs call is traditionally seen as an honoured badge of rank as it has been used to pass orders on board since the Crusades.
In the modern navy a bosunâs call is used by a boatswain, the senior crewman of the deck department. The high pitch could be heard over the activities of the crew, the sea and bad weather.
It is now used in place of traditional bugle calls and in other ceremonies in most modern navies
This is a fine working reproduction of a bosun's call.
