The duffle coat has its origins in the British Royal Navy where it was worn during both World Wars by sailors and officers alike. Now a classic piece of British design, then it was an absolute necessity for warmth and protection aboard ship.
Today Gloverall manufacture duffle coats to the original Second World War design. This duffle coat is named âThe Montyâ after Field Marshall Montgomery who was famous for wearing one during the Second World War.
Each coat is designed to be oversized, in order to fit more layers underneath for maximum warmth.
